“Music is my passion, anything else is just that.”
TAYLA
The current state of the Hip Hop game is making fans have to wade through a sea of music that many consider less than desirable. However, with this flood of unwanted tunes also comes a big-time dry spell for today’s aspiring and mainstream female emcees. But there’s no need to tell that to Orange, NJ-born and ATL-bred rising independent Hip Hop artist TAYLA. Born into a hotbed of music and entertainment on the East Coast, TAYLA is fluent in the language and expression of music like no other hip hop artist, male or female. Classically trained with a major musical influence from her Stepfather and delving into the worlds of House and Techno, Indie Soul, R&B or Hip-Hop, TAYLA’s diverse tastes, raw talent and overall versatility put her in a league above many others in today’s game. Much of TAYLA’s childhood was spent in Jersey, but she was soon uprooted to Lawrenceville, Georgia with her mother, where she began to get a taste of the musical flavors and flows of the south. With the change in climate, TAYLA soaked up the sights and sounds of nearby entertainment metropolis Atlanta. With a new culture also came a new perspective on music, and TAYLA began writing rhymes and making music for herself. Not taking rap seriously in High School besides playing around free styling with friends, she considered it merely second nature rather than a serious career move. Upon Finishing High School, TAYLA found herself fully enthralled in a new passion in filmmaking, and eventually took it on seriously as a student at the illustrious entertainment and media arts school, Full Sail University in yet ANOTHER entertainment capital in Orlando, FL. After setting foot on campus, she soon was drawn to students and subjects pertaining to music, and her dream of becoming a formidable femcee came to life when she was introduced to producer Austin Jackson, who sought out an artist that could bring his music and beats to life. Having met through a mutual friend, the two creative minds clicked almost instantly and began work on the TAYLA’s soon-to-be-released new offering, BIPOLAR RECIEPT. With musical influences ranging from Lauryn Hill and Brandy to DMX, Gang Starr, Wu-Tang and Pete Rock, TAYLA picks and chooses between all of these influences to become the sum of their parts. She visually writes songs about the bigger picture, the simple things in life and her own personal perspective, on subject matter ranging from relationships to the struggles of everyday people. Even in the present TAYLA is an artist of tomorrow with one goal in mind; “I want to become an artist that people react to after hearing my message,” she says without hesitation. TAYLA is currently putting the finishing touches on BIPOLAR RECEIPT, which should be hitting the streets soon. Catch her on MySpace and Twitter right now!
